Top Gun Marlin and Tuna Shootout

August 14th to the 16th, 2008, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

 

TOURNAMENT RULES

1.        The Captain’s Meeting is required and will be held on August 14th at the Wesley Hotel.

2.        IGFA rules (exception: spreader bars are allowed).  Official tournament time is local GPS time.

3.        August 15th  - First Day Fishing - lines in 12:01 AM.

August 16th   - Second Day Fishing - lines out at 3:00 PM.

4.        No vessel is to depart for the fishing grounds prior to 8:00 PM on August 23rd.

5.        All fish must be designated before weighing and must be weighed at the official weigh station in Oak Bluffs.

6.        The weigh station will be open each day from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM.  Fish caught on Friday, August 15th, may be weighed at the weigh station on Friday (Aug. 15th) or retained and weighed on Saturday (Aug. 16th).

7.        All boats must be in position to weigh fish no later than 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 16th. (No Exceptions)

8.        The Tournament Channel will be announced at the Captain’s meeting.

9.        There is no weather committee.  The decision to fish is left solely to participants who do so at their own risk.

10.     The decision to return to port on Friday evening, August 15th, is left solely to participants.

11.     Any protests must be made in writing and presented to the Tournament Committee by 7:00 PM each day. 

12.     There is no limit to the number of fishing rods.

13.     All fish weighed in for prize consideration must be caught from a registered boat.  This is a boat tournament, only in the event of a mechanical failure may participants fish from another vessel.  The Tournament Committee must be advised in writing prior to a vessel change.

14.     All fish are the boat’s property.

15.     Bang sticks, guns and cockpit harpoons are not allowed to be used during the tournament, per IGFA rules.

16.     Unlimited tackle, 130 lb. line test maximum.

17.     All decisions regarding any and all issues made by the Tournament Committee are final.  There are no refunds.

18.     Sportsmen like conduct ashore and afloat is expected of all participants and their guests.

19.     The Boston Big Game Fishing Club burgee must be flown by all vessels participating in the tournament.

Largest Tuna Award, Billfish Award, Largest Dolphin, Largest Wahoo

 

All fish must meet minimum weight/size requirements.  Overall winning score will be the combined total points of the two days fishing.  Under no circumstances may a vessel exceed the daily bag limit and minimum size of a species as set forth by federal regulation.

RELEASE AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT

 

I and my team and crew agree and understand that the Boston Big Game Fishing Club is a division of Sharks Unlimited, Inc., (hereinafter the Corporation) a Massachusetts business corporation.

 

I and my team and crew agree and understand that the Corporation, its directors, employees and agents shall not be liable under any circumstances for any injuries or damages to person or property, arising out of, resulting from or in any way connected with my, or my crews participation in any tournament whether caused by negligent act or negligent omission of the Corporation, or by any other reason or cause whatsoever.  In consideration of the acceptance of me and my team and crew entry and for other good and valuable consideration received, we hereby remise, release and forever discharge the Corporation and its respective heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors and assigns of and from all claims, suits, obligations, liabilities, losses, damages, costs or expenses which our team or our heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors and assigns may have against the Corporation, arising out of, resulting from, or in any way connected with my participation in the above described Tournament.  We understand that this release includes any claims based on any negligent act or negligent omission of the Corporation.

 

To the fullest extent permitted by the law, I and my team and crew hereby agree to indemnify, to defend with counsel acceptable to the Corporation and to hold harmless the Corporation, from and against any and all claims, suits, obligations, liabilities, losses, damages, costs or expenses including but not limited to reasonable attorney fees, suffered by the Corporation or by any other person or persons, whatsoever, arising out of, resulting from or in any way connected with my participation in any Tournament including any and all claims, suits, obligations, liabilities, losses damages, costs or expenses caused in whole or in part by any negligent act or negligent omission of the Corporation, or anyone for whose acts the Corporation may be liable regardless of whether it is caused in part by a party indemnified hereunder.

 

This agreement shall take effect as an instrument under seal and be binding upon insure to the benefit of my, and my team’s and crew’s, heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns.
